Sprouting up dinner

After watching several how-to videos on sprouting, including this oneĀ

We decided to sprout some quinoa, and boy is it EASY AND FAST.

Quinoa yielded sprout tails three times the length of the body within one day. We soaked them in four times as much water the night before, the next morning the sprouts took up twice as much volume.

Then we rinse the water and let them drain, then every so often rinse them with water.

We used ours to top some blanched kale in a maple-mustard with oil and vinegar dressing.

Sprouting the quinoa multiplies it’s nutritional content. Ancient sailors would grow sprouts to keep healthy while at long voyages at sea. It should be a perfectly sustainable source of nourishment for our next long bus voyage, which we are assuming will be in the next ten days.
